De maagd Maria van Guadelupe - Virgin Mary of Guadelupe

Het begin is er...
hier kon je al lezen dat ik van deze geweldige Maria's een lappendeken zou gaan maken voor onze slaapkamer. De plannen daarvoor zijn enigszins gewijzigd en de lappendeken zou er niet meer passen. Dus heb ik besloten om er kussens van te maken. Ze zijn 40x60 en dit is nog maar het begin, een prototype zeg maar. Er volgt binnenkort meer!

It's a start... Here you could have read about the wonderful Virgin Mary of Guadeloupe fabric. I have made other plans for them, they will turn into cushions, this is the first one. A kind of prototype. More soon!

Hans Ubbink

Mooi hè, dit overhemd van Hans Ubbink? Het is een nieuw shirt van mijn liefje dat hij zichzelf cadeau heeft gedaan na al dat overwerk van de afgelopen maanden, het kon er wel af, zeg maar. Ik vind het stofje prachtig. Op het label van het shirt staat:

Ja ik leef nog - Yes I'm still here

Eindelijk weer eens een reden voor een klein blogje. heb erg veel andere dingen aan mijn hoofd en kom totaal niet tot creatieve dingen, helaas. ik hoop wel dat dit snel weer zal veranderen want het is maar saai zo.

Ik vond vandaag iets waar ik al heel lang naar op zoek was: een kaartenstandaard. Hier in het dorp komt binnenkort een leuke winkel waar ik zal proberen wat van mijn spullen te slijten. Ik hoop dat de eigenares er net zo voor in is maar daarover pas in september meer.

At last a reason for a short blog. I have a lot of other things on my mind and are not very creative these days. Hopefully that will change soon, it's getting rather dull uphere.

Today I found something I had been looking for for quite some time. A card stand. Soon there will open a nice shop in our village where I hope to sell some of my stuff. Hopefully the owner will feel the same way. I won't know before September.

Inspiratie - Inspiration

Denk groot, begin klein - Think big, start small

Net toen je dacht dat ik al die leuke stofjes alleen op stapeltjes leg en thuis in een kast bewaar kom ik dan nu toch met een klein project. Denk groot, begin klein is mijn motto. Ik ben erg onervaren op de naaimachine en heb ook wat last van beginnersangst dus ik begin gewoon klein. De grotere projecten komen dan vanzelf dichterbij.

Het groen-roze etui is klein, zo klein dat ik de rits er niet helemaal in kon zetten omdat ik het openingetje niet tussen de naaimachine kreeg. Zo leer je weer eens wat bij. Het roze etui is gemaakt van dubbelzijdig doorgestikte roze stof. Het was best moeilijk om zomaar een stuk uit die mooie stof te knippen. Ik heb het toch maar gedaan.

Just when you thought I only bought nice fabric to put them on little piles and stack them away in a cupboard, I come up with a tiny project. Think big, start small is my current motto. I am very unexperienced on the sewingmachine and I also suffer from a mild anxiety to get started so I'll just start small. Larger projects will come closer eventually.

The green-pink etui is small, so small I couldn't get the sewingmachine around it to put the zipper in properly. This is when you learn things. The pink etui was made from reversable quilted pink fabric. It was rather hard to just cut a piece out of that beautiful fabric. But I did it anyway.

Nieuwe stofjes - New fabric

Mijn binnenkort nieuwe tafelkleed. In de LINDA. las ik dat tafelkleden weer helemaal hip zijn. Wie ben ik om niet met die trend mee te doen...? Nu nog even de juiste kleur rood voor de bies zien te vinden. Dat wat je op de foto ziet is namelijk 2 meter te kort.

My soon to be new tablecloth. I read in LINDA. magazine tablecloths are the hit of the season. Who am I not to follow that trend...? Now all I have to do is find the right color red for the trim. The one you see in the picture is about 2 metres short of what I need.


Tie a ribbon 'round the old oak tree.




Dit lijkt op stof die voor paraplu's gebruikt wordt. Ik weet nog niet wat ik er mee wil doen (het is erg dun en glad) maar ik kon het patroon niet weerstaan.

This looks like fabric that is used for umbrellas. I am not sure what to do with it yet (it's very thin and smooth) but I could not resist the pattern.
